Description

For years the Paese Family has been a leader in the cultivation of potatoes and cereals in the region of the Sila Mountains. As far back as the mid-1800s, Francesco Paese was counted among the largest landowners. He made a fortune cultivating potatoes, breeding cattle, and selling Laricio pine wood.

The Paese Family has maintained direct control of its operations throughout its history, passing along to successive generations passion for the land and openness to innovation. In 2004, brothers Vincenzo, Ercole and Aldo created a company dedicated to the art of fine Calabrian wine.

The 15 hectares of vineyards of the Paese Estate lie on the slopes near the hamlet of Lower Donnici, a D.O.C. recognized area, 250 metres above sea level. This geographic position at the foot of the Sila Mountains, just a few kilometres from the sea, results in a microclimate with the ideal ratio of dryness and humidity, allowing the Paese Estate to produce premium grapes.

Indigenous varieties like Magliocco, Mantonico, Pecorello, Malvasia Bianca, Greco Nero and Greco Bianco make up the bulk of the production of the Paese Estate, along with Italian varieties such as Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Sangiovese and Fiano di Puglia, and international varieties like
