Description

The Rigolli Family has been cultivating vineyards and producing wine since 1950. Today, the third generation is carrying on the family’s craft with passion, using traditional methods and modern technologies, and paying particular attention to the precious territory.

Casello-Ortrugo is situated in a valley at an elevation of 250 metres, surrounded by the Piacentini Hills on the edge of Stirone National Park, near the Trebbia River which was much admired by Hemingway.

The Piacentini Hills span four valleys that stretch from southern Lombardy to northern Emilia – an area characterized by limestone marl. Winters are cold and wet, while summers are hot and dry.

The first vineyards on the estate were harvested in the 1950s for self-consumption. Soon, wine was put on sale in the Rigolli Family’s fruit and vegetable store. After a few years, the family closed the store to focus solely on the production of traditional Piacentini wines.

Cellar visit

Visit of the production area with explanation of the production phases associated with the equipment and the seasons of the year.
