Description

Magna Graecia Winery was created in 2008 thanks to a passion for winemaking handed down over four generations. This passion underlies the careful and rigorous execution of every process, from the selection of the grapes to the storing of the individual bottles.

Proprietor Vincenzo Granata developed his ideas, philosophy and strategy while still in university, aiming to bring prestige back to an occupation and a lifestyle by using traditional methods supported by modern technologies. In the process, he re-introduced local wines and an appreciation for the history and uniqueness of the territory to the modern consumer.

Our winery is located in the town of Spezzano della Sila, long ago part of Magna Graecia or Greater Greece. The Ancient Greeks were among the first to develop efficient winemaking techniques, fostering cultivation of the vine and the production of wine. This is what inspired us to name our winery Magna Graecia – our way of unifying similar cultures and passions.

Our production is divided into two collections: Gaudio, named after the district where the vineyards are located; and Baroné, to reflect our nickname – given to us according to the custom of families living in small villages and towns.
